Rick Erdei
Rick retired from the Omaha Police Department in 2001
after 27 1/2 years of service. He has been actively promoting the
citizen patrols of Omaha since its very beginning and is currently
President of the Omaha Coalition of Citizen Patrols. He became involved
in Community Emergency Response Teams when the State of Nebraska
asked the OCCP if they would sponsor the Omaha area in 1999. Rick
went through instructor training in February, 1999. Although the
state dropped the program in 2001, it was reinstated in 2003 when
Rick again went through instructor training. He has trained 31 classes
of CERT members. He was the lead instructor in 2004 for the State
of Nebraska, training the "Train for Trainers" class in
2004. In 2003, he organized a group of people to promote CERT in
Omaha, which has developed into Metro Omaha CERT. Rick is currently
on the Board of Omaha Citizen Corp. and serves on the steering committees
for the Sarpy County and Douglas County Citizen Corps. Rick currently
works for Farm Bureau Financial Services selling insurance and investments.
