Rick Erdei

Rick retired from the Omaha Police Department in 2001 after 27 1/2 years of service. He has been actively promoting the citizen patrols of Omaha since its very beginning and is currently President of the Omaha Coalition of Citizen Patrols. He became involved in Community Emergency Response Teams when the State of Nebraska asked the OCCP if they would sponsor the Omaha area in 1999. Rick went through instructor training in February, 1999. Although the state dropped the program in 2001, it was reinstated in 2003 when Rick again went through instructor training. He has trained 31 classes of CERT members. He was the lead instructor in 2004 for the State of Nebraska, training the "Train for Trainers" class in 2004. In 2003, he organized a group of people to promote CERT in Omaha, which has developed into Metro Omaha CERT.
